We feel blessed to inform you that we at Ramakrishna Mission Digboi were blessed by the holy visit of Srimat Swami DivyanandaJi Maharaj, Senior Trustee, Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math and Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Math, Cossiore Udyanbati. Revered Maharaj stayed at our Ashrama from 23rd September (Evening) to 26th September 2023 (Morning). Revered Maharaj bestowed Mantra Diksha on two days to a total of 149 devotees in our ashrama and about 600 devotees from various parts of upper north east India at Ramakrishna Mission Dibrugarh and Ramakrishna Sevasrama Tinsukia, Assam from 16th September 2023 to 21st September 2023 on separate days. He visited Ramakrishna Sevasrama Doomdooma and laid the foundation stone for the proposed Monks' Quarter.  On the above occasion monks from other centres also visited our ashrama to pay their respect and homage to the Revered Maharaj. A bengali singing concert 'Trayi Bandana' was arranged on 24th September, evening in honor of the Revered Maharaj.The kind presence of the Revered Maharaj in our midst for so many days as well as his benevolence in granting mantra diksha for so many days to so many devotees will remain etched in the memory of all of us for a long time to come.

Bhakta Sammelan conducted during the holy visit of Most Revered Srimat Swami VimalatmanandaJi Maharaj in July 2023

On the occasion of 125th Anniversary of Ramakrishna Mission, a Bhakta Sammelan  conducted  on 30th July 2023. The convention with cultural programs started with lighting the lamps and offering Arghyas to the Holy Trio from 8.45 AM with vedic chanting, addresses by revered guests, Japa & meditations, devotional songs, readings from the Ramkrishna-Vedanta Literatures. Revered Swami Vimalatmananda Ji presided over the convention. Swami Arunatmananda, Secretary Ramakrishna Mission Digboi welcomed all and felicitated Revered Maharaj along with the Revered & Dear guests Revered Swami AchyuteshanandaJi, Secretary Ramakrishna Mission, Narrotam Nagar, Swami Vedasarananda, Secretary Ramakrishna Mission, Dibrugarh, Swami Kripakarananda, Secretary Ramakrishna Mission, Itanagar and  Swami Sarvadananda, Monk Ramakrishna Mission Yogodyan present on the dias.  The meeting ended at about 1.15P.M with distribution of Cooked prasad to 304 devotees and volunteers present.

On 1st August he departed for Kakurgachi. Revered Maharaj bestowed Mantra Diksha on three days to a total of 211 devotees in our ashrama and about 350 devotees from various parts of upper north east India in Ramakrishna Mission Dibrugarh and Ramakrishna Mission Narottam Nagar from 15th July 2023 to 24th July 2023 on separate days. On 25th July, the newly renovated ashrama entrance path was inaugurated by Revered Maharaj. A bengali singing concert 'Geeti Alekhya' was arranged on 28th July evening in honor of the Revered Maharaj.

Two college students were awarded a stipend of Rs. 5000 each as Merit-cum-Means Scholarship to carry with their further studies

We held a youth convention on 18th June 2023, Sunday in which nearly 60 students from different schools enthusiastically participated. In the convention, we arranged a competition where the participants were evaluated by two judges who were teachers from renowned schools and the participants were asked a question on morality and service before they were able to select a topic and present an extempore speech.  The participants were evaluated on their thinking behind answering the question and the content, pronunciation, confidence of the extempore speech delivered by the participants.  Four winners were selected among the participants and awarded from which two winners were selected for the All-India Youth Convention to be held at Belur Math in December 2023. Consolation prizes were given to all the participants. Swami Arunatmananda and Srimati Pranoti Roy, Ex-Principal Vivekananda Kendriya Vidahlaya, Tinsukia one of the judges to guide the assembled youth on 'Personality Development & Social Development' as per Swami Vivekananda's ideas and ideals. Nearly 70 including participants, winners, judges, volunteers, and the monastics partook the noon prasad.

Rongali Bihu is a traditional ethnic festival celebrated in the northeastern Indian state of Assam and other parts of Northeastern India by the indigenous ethnic groups of Assam and marks the beginning of the Assamese New Year and is the main festival in the state of Assam. To celebrate Rongali Bihu Indian oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) Digboi Branch first time organized a series of programmes in Digboi which also included a procession from all the socio-cultural societies present in Digboi. IOCL invited us to take part in the procession that was held on Saturday, 13th May 2023.


In response to the above, a colorful team of 50 devotees and well-wishers along with a monastic member attended the procession. The devotees displayed several placards in Assamese with the message of Sri Sri Thakur, Swamiji and best wishes for Rongali Bihu. It was the half-day programme and the participants were fed after the completion of the rally.

We are glad to announce that Ramakrishna Mission, Digboi successfully conducted a Yuva Sanmelan / Youth Convention to celebrate the “AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV” in the light of Swami Vivekananda on 7th August, 2022, (Sunday). This convention was a part of the year-long initiative taken by government of India to commemorate the completion of 75 years of Independence of our beloved Mother Land.

It was a full day programme from 9.00 A.M to 3.45 P.M with more than 160 youths participating from about 13 differentSchools and Colleges of Digboi Township and adjacent areas. The programme was organized at Ramakrishna Mission Digboi premises.

Shrimat Swami AchyuteshanandaJi Maharaj, Trustee Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur math and Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Narottam Nagar, Arunachal Pradesh took the Presidential Chair. Swami Vedasarananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Dibrugarh and Smt. Barnali Hazarika, Vivekananda Vidyalaya H S School Digboi, were present as guest honor.

The program started with offering flower at the feet of Swami Vivekananda’s portrait followed by lighting of the lamps and Vedic chanting. The guests were then welcomed and felicitated by Swami Arunatmananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Digboi. “Swadesh Mantra” of Swami Vivekananda was chanted by all the students. A strong motivational letter of Swami Vivekananda to his disciple Allasinga Perumal was read before the audience. The participating students started their performance which included inspiring speech, singing of solo / group patriotic songs, performing short motivational drama on religious harmony in India, inspirational dances and Yoga show. In between a Guided Meditation was also conducted by Swami Vedasarananda and the respective guests also shared their thoughts on the above to inspire the youths of Digboi in Character and Nation building programme as envisioned by Swami Vivekananda. Breakfast and Lunch was served to all.
